Giving back to those who need it more than I do...

Hello,

On August 27th-30th I was able to spend time at Legends Ranch with 8 children with mental or physical handicaps as well as other illness. During these four days they were given the opportunity to shoot a whitetail buck of a lifetime. Most importantly they were given the chance to enjoy the outdoors while spending time away from the clinics and hospitals.

Let me tell you my story with a young man named J.J, J.J is a 12 year old from North Carolina who has mild retardation and cerebral palsy. J.J is a very quiet person and when I first meet him I was not sure if how well he could communicate with others. He walked around looking and touching everything that was new and different to him. He was with his mother for the weekend and they sometimes used sign language to communicate to each other. On Friday I was able to sit in the blind with J.J, Colby Bettis and his mom, for some reason the deer were really acting weird and just before dark a nice eight pointer came in and Colby said to J.J "do you want that one?" J.J said "Yeah mama yeah!" and held his hand to his head to show how big the antlers were. Colby and J.J lined up the scope and turned on the red dot laser. "Bang" the gun went off and the buck ran off just a little bit and then he just looked at the blind. He had missed! J.J was not happy but still he was very excited. So the next morning we went out and sat in a different location, as the sun came up J.J was starting to get impatient and excited about seeing some more big bucks. I may or may not have dosed off a little and I heard some commotion in the blind. Around 8:30 am a nice 8 pt came out with his head down all you could see is his back and the horns still in velvet. I looked at Colby and he looked at me and we both knew that that was the buck that J.J was going to take. Same as before they lined up the laser and the scope and clicked the safety off and Colby said, " Now squeeze the trigger J.J" "Bang" the giant 8pt drops like a ton of bricks and J.J says "Lets go get him mama!" We knew it was a perfect shot! I taped, as he was so excited to see his trophy. I was smiling, Colby was smiling, His mother was smiling and J.J was holding his hand to his head saying, "We got him mama!" So we walk up to the great 8 pt and took some picture and loaded him up to take back to the lodge to show off. Colby let J.J talk on the radio to tell everyone what had happened and J.J yells "BULL DOWN!" and cheers came from the other end.

This was a great weekend for all and a great time to see God's work. That weekend took a lot of support from sponsors to make happened that is why I wanted to share with you just one of the eight stories that have changed these kids lives. October 1st - 4th Legends Ranch will be hosting another hunt but this time it will be for Purple Heart recipients that have lost limbs and or have been injured in war, another group deserving of a memorable hunt of a lifetime. This being a local ranch and a local family ( Colby and Skipper Bettis) I would love to see local businesses help with this event. I know that you get asked all the time but if you could just see some of the footage that I was able to capture you would understand what I am talking about.

As most of you know the joys of hunting and spending time outdoors, this year lets join together and let someone else less fortunate experience a hunt of a lifetime. This year for the Purple Heart hunt they still need someone or a group to sponsor the jackets to give to all of the hunters for a total of $400.00 plus anything else we can all put in for.

Legends Ranch Youth Hunt

J.J was our hunter, What a great kid!

Just spent the most amazing 4 days out at Legends Ranch. They had 8 special kids that were given the opportunity to shoot a trophy buck. I was lucky enough to be a small part of the experience. Life changing WOW! Here is a few photos I will be posting a video in a few weeks as well.

Just added to my old camera collection

I received a text today showing me some old camera at Goodwill. I drove up to the Goodwill and found these cameras all for $30.00! What a deal, I have been somewhat collecting old camera for 6 or so years and have a few but this will help. Some work, some do not but it is not about that just fun to display and share with our clients. Enjoy!

Wedding preview for this weekend... Such a great couple!

This weekend we will be attending the wedding of Jenny and Brandon. The wedding will be held in Petoskey, MI at a church located downtown and the reception is being held at the fairgrounds. I shot some engagement photos with jenny and Brandon and by the time I was done I felt like we were old college buddies! Really great chemistry and a great fit to take some great wedding photos. I can't wait!
